On Saturday, September 28, 2013, I went along with a few of my nursing and athletic training students to see Body Worlds at The Buffalo Museum of Science. The exhibition was designed to present the audience with a perspective of the human body as never seen before. Here are my students' opinion of the trip.

Chris Augustine

The trip to the body worlds really helped me appreciate the complexity of the human body, and a better understanding of how we work. One thing that really stood out was the one piece showing he network of blood vessels in the arm, its was definitely not something you can see in a text book.

Francine Augustine

I thought going to Body Worlds was very interesting and I thought it was very helpful too. Seeing real human bodies from different perspectives gave me a better idea of what the body looks like. Also, seeing the nerves and blood supply helped give me a better understanding of where they are located in the body. I didn't realize that nerves looked similar to strings and that the blood vessels took up such a large amount of space. Overall, going to Body Worlds I would say has helped me understand anatomy better and appreciate the body more . Seeing a real body is much more helpful then using diagrams in the book!

Hunter Ferris

The trip was very helpful in furthering my education in Anatomy and Philology in that it helped me better visualize what the human body looks like in a dissected form, in different anatomical positions, how the blood flows and the differences between a healthy body and non-healthy body all in real life. it was a very fun trip and I am now able to appreciate the human body better and give it the respect it deserves.

Sabrina Gilbert

I believe that the trip to the Buffalo Museum of Science Body Worlds will greatly help me understand anatomy and physiology more. By seeing real human bodies with the bones, muscles, organs, and everything helped me to further understand how the human body works. Also, it made me appreciate the human body and what it does so much more. I loved being able to see all of the features of the body, especially since it was all real and not fake models. You could really see how everything functions around the other things and how they works as one. I am very appreciative of this trip as it will help me in my future endeavors and schooling.

Tina Moore

The trip to BodyWorlds gave me a different perspective on viewing the human body. It definitely was not anything you could see in the text book or could see when looking at a plane human cadaver. The way that the bodies were posed and portrayed opened up my mind to the body. You could see blood supply, bones, nerves, muscles, and everything else fully exposed in different exhibits. The way that the parts of the body were peeled back gave me an understanding of how everything is connected and how parts can work together. I enjoyed this experience because I was able to look at a real human body in a complete different way.

Wehonna Toth

I enjoyed my experience to the Buffalo Museum of Science Body Worlds because it changed my perspective on how the body looks, moves, and acts. When I first stepped into the exhibit, I was taken away by the human body figures. The figures were set up in a way to make it visually appealing to the eye, by placing the body in "real life" positions, such as dancing, singing, or fighting. You could see how the bones, muscles, blood supply, and nerves were all connected and how they work together to function. Not only was the exhibit a benefit to my learning, but it was also entertaining and memorable. I hope to reflect back on what I saw as I continue my studies in Anatomy and Physiology and future classes.
