Meningitis is a disease that effects the brain and the spinal cord.

Meningitis is a swelling that happens with the meninges that cover around the brain and spinal cord.It is the most destructive of acute infections in normal individuals

*Sudden high fever

*Severe headache that isn't easily confused with other types of headache

*Stiff neck

*Vomiting or nausea with headache

*Confusion or difficulty concentrating

-trouble with memory may still exist for a while after the illness passes and in children it could cause them learning disabilities.

*Seizures

*Sleepiness or difficulty waking up

*Sensitivity to light

*Lack of interest in drinking and eating

*Skin rash in some cases, such as in meningococcal meningitis

The Viral Cases of Meningitis

The viral type of Meningitis is less severe and is transmitted by things like: food, water, or other contaminated objects. Children can recieve the viral type of infection more than adults. with the viral infection of Meningitis, it can be cured very easily and at home.

*take Tylenol or Ibuprofen to bring down the pain and swelling

*drink water, juice, or any liquid to stay hyddrated

The Fungal/ Bacterial cases of Meningitis

The fungal,or Bacterial type of Meningitis is pretty rare, but is most commenly found in people with weak immune systems.How this is found is mostly with the use of a spinal tap to see if there is any infection with the spinal cord itself.To cure this type of infection, you can only go to the hospital unlike the viral iinfection that can be cures at home.

The treatments that you can get done at a hospital to Cure the Fungal Meningitis is:

*strong antibiotics through an IV

*oxygen therapy

*fluid replacements

*anti-seizer medicine

*corticosteriods -these are used to reduce inflammation in the brain and spinal cord

The Glass Test

When having a rash, if you put a glass against the rash, it should fade. If Meningitis is present, the rash will still be visible.
